Peniche

This week was spring break.
My friends and I rented a car and made a road trip along the coast.
We stayed in a hostel in Peniche, a cute little beach town.
Here is a fortress from the 16th century.

Peniche is known for their waves.
They have some of the best surfing
 in Europe and tubular waves.
They have a famous wave called Supertubos,
also known as the European  version of pipeline.
Last year the Rip Curl Pro was held here.

Here is a classic Portuguese house, as you
can see by the blue and white tiles.

This man sure found the right place to do pilates.

Besides tourism, fishing is
 important for their economy.

As you can see, there were many great views.
It was a peaceful place to walk around.
We were happy with the perfect weather,
because it had been raining all the previous week.

Here is the lighthouse at the cape.
It was very beautiful and there was also
a restaurant there that you can eat at and
enjoy the views.

As you can see there are islands in the distance that you can take a boat too.
We were hoping to visit an island, but unfortunately you can't go until May.
Although you can't tell from the picture, the waves are pretty dangerous here.
