This is the delicious famous bean pastry from Torres Vedras. Torres Vedras is another city in Portugal, famous for their Carnival parades and celebration. However, they are also famous for this pastry. It is a sweet pastry and the main ingredients are almonds and cooked white beans. Although it doesn't sound so sweet, after eating one, you really can't eat another. The person who invented this pastry was Joaquina Rodrigues, who was living in Torres Vedra. She only made them for her close friends, but then passed down the recipe to a family member named Maria, who was the first person who commercialize the pastry, or start selling them. Now they have become a typical pastry of this city, selling dozens of pastries per day.
